A government agency

Three museums – one museum authority

The Royal Armoury is a state museum housed at Stockholm Royal Palace. Together with Skokloster Castle, the Hallwyl Museum and the Conservation and Photography Department it constitutes a government agency in its own right, namely the Royal Armoury and Skokloster Castle with the Hallwyl Museum Foundation.

The government agency is accountable to the Ministry of Culture and is headed by a Director General who is also Director of the Royal Armoury. The museums base their work on a national cultural policy resolution enacted by the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament).
