New permanent exhibition

1628-1978-2018

We are currently working on a new permanent exhibition at the Royal Armoury. The new permanent exhibition will open by winter 2018.

The Royal Armoury is Sweden’s oldest museum, having been established in 1628. Our permanent exhibition has been seen by millions of visitors since it opened in 1978 in the premises within the Royal Palace. In 2018 we are celebrating 40 years at the palace, and 390 years as a museum, with a new exhibition featuring both familiar artefacts and some new objects never displayed before.

Come and experience new perspectives on the history of Sweden through the monarchy, from the Vasa era until present day.

Due to the work with our new exhibition some parts of the museum will be closed almost throughout 2018. During this time we refer all visitors to enjoy the royal carriages and their history in the lower part of the museum. I love you madly, an exhibition about Axel von Fersen‘s and Marie Antoinette’s impossible love story is also presented there.
