Magnificent mourning processions, expensive decorations and touching ceremonies have marked royal funerals for centuries. A dramatic exhibition about how royal funerals were shaped from Gustav I of Sweden in 1560 to Gustaf V in 1950.

"The King is Dead - Long Live the King!"

"The king is dead - long live the king!" is the well-known exclamation after a king's death. Through centuries, the transfer of power has been important and clearly visible in the ceremonies. The design of the royal funerals has changed over the centuries and constantly reflects the time in which they take place.
