Visit The Royal Armoury

The Royal Armoury is Sweden’s museum of royal history, located in the southeastern corner of the Royal Palace with an entrance from Slottsbacken. It is independent from the other museums in the palace, with separate entrances and tickets.

You must hang outerwear in the museum's wardrobe which has hangers, hat shelves, and lockable cabinets. Small bags are allowed, but we cannot store suitcases. Nearest storage is available at Stockholm Central Station. The lockers are 48 centimeters tall, 24 centimeters wide and 24 centimeters deep.

The Royal Armoury does not have a cafe or restaurant. Unfortunately, we don't have a designated space to eat packed meals. Due to the sensitive environment, eating and drinking are not allowed in the museum's exhibitions, entrance, or shop.

Unfortunately, strollers cannot be brought into the museum’s exhibitions. There are a few places to park strollers near the museum entrance, and it is also possible to lock them outdoors in a designated area outside the museum, with your own lock.

From January 7 2026 onward, the museum’s visitor restrooms will be undergoing renovation. During the renovation, restrooms are available near Slottsboden, about a three-minute walk away but please note that they may have other opening hours than the museum's. Your ticket to the The Royal Armoury can be used for access. Unfortunately, the accessible toilet will not be available during the renovation.

Only guide and service dogs are allowed inside the museum.

We provide free Wi-Fi for our visitors. You can get the username and password at the museum's cashier.

Feel free to take photos in our exhibitions, you can also share them on social media. It is allowed to use flash, tripods, and selfie sticks. However, selfie sticks are not allowed in the carriage hall one floor down. For private photography sessions, please contact the museum for availability and pricing information.
